Security Environment

1. Public security on campus:

Security personnel stand guard at the south and north school gates, as well as at the gate to the teachers’ family residency area, 24 hours per day in shifts. If there is any emergency or a need for help, please dial the emergency number “110” or find a security guard directly.

The “110” cars are on 24-hour patrol, circling the campus in 1 hour loops. Please contact them in case of emergency.

The campus also has an emergency number available 24-hours a day: 58909110

Because the reaction time is fast and the police are conscientious and experienced, this call is considered useful according to both students and teachers.

2. Student dormitory security guards:

All student dormitories are on 24-hour guard. When entering these buildings, students must swipe their residency cards.

3. Security guards around campus:

Our campus is in the jurisdiction of the Changping Songyuan police station, located in the south of Kangshan Square on the eastern part of campus. To get to the station, walk east from the south gate, turn right at the first corner and then walk approximately 100 meters. The telephone number is 89782718.

4. Public crossings and personal safety:

There are no overhead passes above the roads in front of the school gates and the cars in this area run very fast. Before crossing these roads, please watch out and always use the pedestrian crossings. The traffic is especially heavy at the north gate during rush-hours on working days; if you are riding a bicycle, please dismount and walk across the street.

Please pay attention to traffic when riding a bicycle because many of the bicycle lanes in Changping are not protected by guardrails. Especially when near to the bus stations, please walk with your bicycle until it is safe to ride again.

The area between the south school gate and Dongguan Huandao in the east is relatively well-developed; however, the area to the east of Dongguan Huandao is still under construction. It is best to avoid this area at night. Try not to go out alone after dark even though the campus enjoys good security.

If you do go out, it is better to remember the last bus’ time (please refer to transportation guide) in order to ensure a safe and prompt return to campus. There are many unlicensed taxis operating in Changping; it is best to avoid taking long rides in these cars.

Last but not least, self-protection is vital. It is recommended to keep a list of all emergency phone numbers, not to reveal your bank account details, to be watchful when going out alone, to avoid alcohol, and etc.
